Spam: Not Just In A Can

Do they even still make Spam in a can?  I remember my great-grandmother used to make us Spam sandwiches when I was little.

Yum.

Not.

Anyways Spam is not just in a can anymore.  It’s all over the web.  And does anybody like that kind of Spam?  Nope.  I think Spam is a synonym for Crap.  We all get the  usual spam in our email.  You know the ones that say, “Congratulations you won a lottery in Zimbabwe!”  or “Dear sir/madam: my client has passed and you have inherited the money.  I need to wire you the money through your bank.”   Haha.

Seriously, does anybody fall for this crap, er spam?  I think they need to come up with something a little more clever.  On our blogs we get the spam that is either a jumbled mess of letters mixed with some links or a mish mash of words that make no sense together.  Lucky for me, I don’t see most of my spam comments because I have a great spam catcher!  But there are the occasional few that slip through.  And I have to say, they are getting creative.  FINALLY!

Here’s to you creative Spam Bots: The following are real spam comments that I received on my blog.

Example A: I really enjoyed this post, especially the “examples in this post” portion which made it really easy for me to SEE what you were talking about without even having to leave the article. Thanks

So, sure that looks like a legit comment except the “post” it was left on was my Blondacious Blogs page.  Yeah, there are no articles there, just buttons.

Example B: very well information you write it very clean. I’m very lucky to get this information from you.

This comment was left by the same name as Example A, but a different email addy and IP address.  I may be blonde but come on!  Oh and thank you for the compliment spammers :)

Example C: I really like your blog, I feel we have a common love from your blog. Hope you make friends with me, and give more exchanges later. I have a website about shoes, you can have a look.

Well, this one I really like.  I like to pretend that maybe he is interested in me romantically and he’s trying to woo me.  Wait- did he say shoes?? I love shoes!

Example D: You know an odd feeling? Sitting on the toilet eating a chocolate candy bar.

Now this one takes the cake, er chocolate!  I’m not even kidding- that was a spam comment left on my blog.  This is hands down my favorite one… EVER.

On second thought, maybe I’m starting to like spam.  Great blog fodder.

  4. My favorite one was “You’ve saved the day again!!” I felt all warm and fuzzy, except it was from a spammer.

Sometimes spam can be entertaining. Most of the time it’s just annoying.

And yes, they still make spam in a can. Haven’t you seen the commercials? My husband loves the stuff. I think it’s disgusting. And the commercial is marketing it to kids by saying it perks up the flavor of eggs, etc.

    EEEEWW.

    • Miss Blondie says:

I think I would have loved that spam comment!! And no, I haven’t seen the commercials thank god! My son likes eggs just the way they are thank you.

      • Yeah, I am scared of the day hubby gets Ro to try Spam. It’s SOO gross. But strangely, a STAPLE in Hawaii. They have it on the menus of all the local restaurants. If you have a Hawaiian BBQ place near you, you will see what I mean. The big ones out here are L & L and Ono Hawaiian BBQ.

Oh man you are too funny. What?! I didn’t win the European lottery? That’s okay, my great great great great great great uncle twice removed left me an inheritance. I didn’t even know he was from New Guinea. It’s A LOT of money. I think…anyone know how many kinos are in a US dollar?! At least they are telling you how interesting you are. They just keep trying to force $ down my throat. I’ve never eate Spam and I don’t ever plan on it either. Yuck.

  11. haha, I had to laugh when I read the first part of your post. I went to the store the other night and took Miss Olivia with me and she picked up spam and wanted it . I bought it for her and she loves it. So gross.
Other wise , I love some of the comments that come through ,most of them don’t even relate to the topic of the post .
