Here is a recent conversation i had with Hunter that he initiated:
Hunter: Mom, i know how babies are made.
Miss Blondie: Really? How?
Hunter: The little fish things swim around and they get to the ball and whoever cracks the ball swims in and gets to be the baby.
Miss Blondie: How do you know thats what happens?
Hunter: Its on Look Who’s Talking (thats the opening scene of this PG movie). Is that right?
Miss Blondie: Well, um, yeah.
Hunter: So that means i made it in the ball?! I did it?! YESSSS!!!
Apparently, he didn’t really “get” it until he said it out loud, that he was that little fish thing, that cracked the egg, and got to be the baby.
I am soo not ready to have the “birds and the bees” conversation with my seven year old yet. Why does he have to be so damn smart and pick up on shit like that in the movies?!! Damn it! I never even thought about that opening scene being a big deal. I guess i lose the Mother of the Year award….yet again!

Hi! Welcome to my blog!

Oh God it was not fun! My 14 yr old and I had that conversation when she was about 9. I have yet to have it with my now 9 yr old… but I can sense it is coming..she is starting to ask about puberty & stuff! UGHH
That’s good stuff! Thanks for sharing.
Oh my! That was hilarious!
Lmao, he is one smart boy! he’s hilarious. It’s awesome that he was so enthused. He seemed pretty proud of himself.
Believe it or not, those talks were one of my favorite parts of motherhood. My oldest daughter is now 17. I remember sketching a quick diagram of the female reproductive system for her when she was about 8 (she was a curious one). How funny when my mom-in-law found it one night while babysitting! Anyway, I’m proud to say my daughter and I openly discuss those issues now. It’s worth it, so get in there and make them feel OK about approaching you!
